Wedding hair and choosing a hairstyle for your wedding day is an important task. Looking your very best on your big day, but you still want to look like you. Look through pictures in magazines can be helpful to get ideas. If your wedding dress is simple, you could go for a more intricate hairstyle. However, if your wedding dress is more on the elaborate, your hairstyle should be more subdued.

Scheduling a trial is a must and if possible and ideal time is four to six weeks before the wedding is ideal. Going through a trial run also allows you to make changes to the hairstyle and make-up before the big day. Bring your veil or hair accessories with you and your make-up bag as this all gives us and idea of what you like and can help us.

We all get beauty problems that we would like to just disappear…….. A wedding day is the one day we can make those problems vanish temporarily by using the proper concealer and using it correctly.

If you wake up on your wedding day with a blemish, no problem! We will fix the problem with a good concealer. And if you have any facial scars that you want to hide, layer a concealer over the scar using a concealer, then smooth out the edges with a sponge to blend. Any beauty problem can be concealed with the proper products and techniques.

Waterproof mascara is a necessity on your wedding day. No one wants their wedding day glow to be overshadowed by big black streaks. Waterproof mascara is not usually made to lengthen, thicken or curl your lashes, so Jessica will spend time applying it to make it look as flawless as some other mascara brands. One of Jessica tips to every bride is to blot, not wipe or rub your face………. Blotting soaks up wetness without disturbing the rest of your makeup like wiping or rubbing them would. So for a streak free wedding day, make sure you remember that blot, don’t rub…………

Working for the first time with celebrities and top models I was very nervous (which is an understatement!), however, as time progressed my nervousness subsided and I fell into my comfort zone. Doing hair, whether back stage, pop video or on set for a magazines, I nearly always go home tired but my work still holds a passion I love, every job is totally different.

There are times (not often) when I get discouraged and think that all my time, energy, effort is spent in vain; when I feel like I am working with few results but then I have days like Saturday, which was fabulous and full of energy and it affirmed that, slowly but surely, the dream…MY dream is coming together.

Artistic flair is a gift and my Dad always said I had it bless him, I have tried many things in my life but always without doubt come back to what I love and now I truly believe I have the best job in the world.

About Jessica

Jessica started doing makeup for fun on the girls for a night out. When she qualified as a make-up artist Jessica’s path was chosen and was lucky enough to live out her dream as makeup artist.

Jessica secured a job doing the models and face of Dior for a fashion shoot in Spain. Her first major step as a professional makeup artist when she was asked to do the make-up for the Face of a Dior which took me back to my first time and how nervous I was, all those years ago. She has an understanding that being a truly exceptional makeup artist requires more than artistic talent and technique. It requires vision, patience, excellent listening skills, professionalism and a love of people.

1930’s Vintage wedding look is making a great come back.

Wedding in the 1930 saw brides showing an appreciation for their feminine forms, rather than rebelling against them. Wedding dresses and those of the bridesmaids would emphasise the natural curves of the bodies and flatter the bust with their tailored, whimsical cuts. Silk as always remained the best fabric for the matchless way that it falls. Sequins, glass beads and other embellishments were used so much. The halter neck and cowl neck were also developed during this time. Full length backless dresses that were cut on the bias drew more attention to the female form than ever before.

The Changing Styles of Makeup

The trends of the 1930s saw the end to the vamp look for a softer, more appealing styles. Complexions were still pale, but a faint bloom of pink or peach made its way into starlets’cheeks. Dark colours were replaced with blushes of pink and lips of rose or raspberry. Eyebrows were high and long, smoothed and shiny with petroleum jelly. Nail polish was applied to the centre of the nail, leaving the half-moons and tips bare.

The decade of the 30′s was the beginning of makeup created for a particular purpose and purposefully applied. Max Factor was also said to have coined the term “makeup”.

Max Factor was the man behind makeup, credited with inventing cosmetic necessities like mascara and pancake.

Hair styles also softened from ’20′s extremes. Hair was being worn longer, often pulled into a smooth chignon for evening wear. Having decided that the women of the 1930 no longer desired to look boyish, haircuts were no longer a statement of rebellion. All of a sudden women had full, lush deep waves and started to look sexy. Hair styles were still making a statement. Ladies started to use the salon and colour dared to be used. Women began to ask themselves ” Why Not”. Before long there was many women bleaching and tinting their hair like never before.

Been a another busy week in the life of Lavish Hair and Makeup. We have been busy doing trials getting ready for our lovely brides over the next few month. The summer weddings are rolling in.

One of our Hair and Makeup wedding trial for Louise Keenan went absolutely fantastic, we did the hair and makeup wedding trial in La Quinta, La Milena Spa and Golf hotel. We did a few different hair styles as she wasn’t 100 percent on what she wanted, we did 2 high styles and 1 low style. Diana our Hair stylist curled all the hair to start off then gradually put it up. It looked stunning on her, as did every style!

For the makeup trial Louise Keenan went for a very fresh bridal look, classic makeup wedding. I use the Dior skin Fluide Spf 12 foundation with a lovely pinkie blusher. Waterproof mascara just in case there is a few tears on the wedding day. Our goal to make sure that our Lavish bride´s feel 100% satisfied with there trial and final look for your big day.
